Pepe's name has joined the growing injury list at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Real Madrid centre-back has been diagnosed with a muscular injury after a knock to his left leg, the club announced Friday. He underwent tests at the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital and his condition will be evaluated further.
According to Marca, Pepe will miss Real Madrid's clash versus Malaga on Saturday because of the injury. He's a key reason why Real Madrid has only allowed one goal through five La Liga fixtures this season.
A number of Real Madrid's most notable players are in the treatment room, including Sergio Ramos (dislocated shoulder), Danilo (foot), James Rodriguez (thigh muscle), and Gareth Bale (calf).
