Carlo Ancelotti has added a return to the Premier League to his bucket list.

The former Chelsea boss admitted he'd like another shot at managing in England before he retires, saying that he plans on cutting his sabbatical short in January if the right opportunity presents itself.

"I would like to go back to the Premier League. It is the ideal environment not for football, but for the 'game' around football," the Italian manager revealed to Corriere dello Sport, with translation from Sky Sports.

"You can work there with the right amount of pressure and with the necessary detachment and calm. Before I retire, I'd like to have another experience in England."

Ancelotti added that his ambition to return to coaching is a relatively new desire after admittedly hoping to avoid calls from unnamed teams in recent weeks.

"Where will I go? Where they call me. I will talk, evaluate, and then decide. Up until a few weeks ago I was scared someone would call, but now the return is getting closer.

"Unless something strange happens. I am ready to get back on the bike in January."

While he didn't reveal a preference for a particular job in the Premier League, Ancelotti did, however, tip Manchester City to win this season's title.

"Manchester City because they have the strongest team, they have exceptional quality."

Ancelotti last coached in England with Chelsea in 2011, where he helped the team win the double in 2010 with Premier League and FA Cup triumphs.

He was rumoured to be a target in Liverpool's search before the club hired former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp. For now, Ancelotti will have to wait and hope a position opens up since there currently isn't a vacancy in the Premier League.
