Luis Suarez 'not angry' over Ballon d'Or snub, reiterates love for Barcelona

In the end, there can only be three and Barcelona forward Luis Suarez was the odd man out.

The Uruguayan is one part of what might just be the most ruthlessly effective striker trio in the world, combining with Lionel Messi and Neymar for Barcelona to great success.

But only two were nominated in the final three for the Ballon d'Or, with Neymar and Messi squaring off against Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo for the grand accolade. For Suarez, there's no ill will, despite his teammates backing him for a spot in the final three.

"I am not angry about not being among the top three," Suarez said, as quoted by ESPN FC. "I am aware of my potential. I am very happy to be able to help the team and to have two teammates among the finalists. I think Messi is first and Neymar second, without a doubt."

There are questions of whether Suarez and, by extension, Neymar can truly compete for the Ballon d'Or when playing alongside Messi. But, Suarez brushed aside any such talk of leaving the club, even with the allure of more stardom or financial gain.

"You could not get me to leave Barcelona over money. I suffered a lot to get here and you won't get me to leave, not for triple or quadruple the money. I can't guarantee that I will retire here, but I want to be here for many more years," he said.
