Emoji war: Guti fires back at Gerard Pique after Barcelona's draw at Valencia
Guti, whose "temperamental genius" was a staple of Real Madrid for 15 years, isn't about to let Gerard Pique mock the club where he is revered.
On Saturday, Guti took to Twitter in the aftermath of Barcelona's 1-1 draw at Valencia to ridicule the Catalan club's result with an emoji-filled tweet.
There was, however, a hidden meaning behind Guti's tweet that was clearly intended for Pique to read. After Real Madrid was incredulously kicked out of the Copa del Rey for fielding an ineligible player in Denis Cheryshev, Pique typed out a tweet consisting only of emojis, seemingly ridiculing Los Blancos for their lack of judgment.
Of course, there's a big difference between being thrown out of the Copa del Rey, and drawing Valencia on the road. But kudos should be given to Guti, one of only four players that Real Madrid's ultras regularly sing about, for defending his former club's colours, and providing some banter.
