Atsu was also discussing loan moves with La Liga's Levante and Rayo Vallecano, according to ESPN FC's Peter O'Rourke, and has sought new pastures just three weeks after being recalled from Bournemouth by his parent club.
The Ghanaian appeared just twice for the Cherries over the first half of this campaign - against Hartlepool United and Preston North End in the League Cup - as he struggled with back and shin injuries.
The 24-year-old has never played for Chelsea since his £3.5-million move from FC Porto in 2013, but has taken in various loan stints since. He has impressed on the international stage, though, picking up 42 caps for the Black Stars and playing a vital part in his country's run to the Africa Cup of Nations final in 2015.
Atsu hasn't played competitively since September, so will have to work his way back to match fitness at La Rosaleda.
