The rivalry between Brazil and Argentina was on full display in Saturday's top-of-the-table La Liga clash between Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.
As the interval approached and after Atleti surrendered an early lead, Filipe Luis produced a challenge on Lionel Messi that left referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco no choice but to issue a red card to the Brazilian left-back.
Luis had escaped punishment in the 24th minute, when he checked Messi during a break, and the red card marked the 30-year-old's first in over two years.
