Bulgarian great Trifon Ivanov dies

Bulgaria has lost one of the finest defenders in its history with news that Trifon Ivanov has died at the age of 50.
The 77-time international succumbed to a heart attack in his hometown of Veliko Tarnovo.
"Trifon Ivanov will remain in the history of Bulgarian football as one of the best defenders," a statement said. "Before being a great player, Trifon was a great man with great heart and always ready to help. We all mourn the loss of a true friend. Rest in peace, Trifon."
Ivanovic marshalled the back for various clubs, most notably for CSKA Sofia, Real Betis, and Rapid Vienna. He represented his country on runs to the semifinals of both the 1994 World Cup and Euro 96.
