Neymar: I was intended target of Messi's penalty pass to Suarez

Luis Suarez was a little trigger happy Sunday during Barcelona's cheeky penalty against Celta Vigo.

At least, that's according to Neymar, who claims he and Lionel Messi worked on the penalty pass during training, and he was the intended target until Suarez intervened to increase Barca's lead en route to a 6-1 thrashing.

The Brazilian, however, wasn't upset about missing out on playing a part in maneuver - which saw Messi place a light pass into Suarez's path before the Uruguayan bulged the back of the net from close range.

"It was for me, we had practiced it in training," Neymar said, according to ESPNFC. "Leo and myself had practiced but Luis was closer and he scored it.

"Our friendship is the most important thing. It doesn't matter who scores the goals just that we win the games."

Neymar appears to be the only one that knew who the pass was intended for as his teammates admitted they had no clue who would get the opportunity.

"I had never seen them do it but I had heard them discuss it," Andres Iniesta said. "Perhaps it was for Neymar but Luis was there so he converted it."

Jordi Alba shared a similar viewpoint, saying: "I didn't know because it's not usual to pass, but (Messi) is always coming up with things."

Messi's decision to pass up on what would have been an easy goal is a testament to the Argentine's unselfishness, as well, considering the tally would have been his 300th in La Liga after netting his 299th earlier in the contest.
