Exactly five months have passed since Barcelona was last defeated, and it may very well be another five months until the Blaugrana slips up again.
On Thursday, by virtue of a 5-1 La Liga victory at Rayo Vallecano, Barcelona set a Spanish record for the longest unbeaten streak in all competitions, doing one better than Real Madrid during its 1988-89 season, when Los Blancos went undefeated through 34 fixtures.
Barcelona's unbeaten run includes results from La Liga, the Copa del Rey, the Champions League, and the Club World Cup, as the Blaugrana hasn't tasted defeat since Oct. 3, 2015, when the Catalan club fell 2-1 at Sevilla.
Coincidentally, Barcelona's 5-2 victory over Rayo on Oct. 18, 2015 - the reverse match from Thursday's - was the game that kicked off the unbeaten streak, and the Blaugrana have since tallied 106 goals while only conceding 20.
Among Europe's top five leagues, Juventus holds the record for the longest unbeaten streak. The Old Lady went undefeated through 43 fixtures between May 2011 and May 2012, meaning Barcelona is eight results shy of equalling such a run.
