With a final-round 6-under 66, Jin Young Ko secured win No. 13 on the LPGA TOUR at the HSBC Women's World Championship in Singapore on Sunday.
The win itself was another great achievement, but this victory marked much more for the World's No. 1 ranked women's golfer.
With her final-round 66, Ko officially carded her 15th consecutive round in the 60s and set a new record on the LPGA Tour, breaking the one she previously co-held with Annika Sorenstam and Soyeon Ryu of 14, according to LPGA Media.
"I am just proud of myself to record 60s, 15 rounds like straight. So I'm so happy," Ko said, according to LPGA.com. "I feel amazing right now."
The South Korean golfer's previous streak ended after the first round of the BMW Ladies Championship in October 2021 when she shot a 71 - a score that was still under par. Ko immediately rebounded in the next round with an impressive 8-under 64, starting the now record-breaking active streak and marking a score in the 60s through 29 of her past 30 rounds on the TOUR.
Ko also took a lengthy break from golf amid the streak between the CME Group TOUR Championship - which she also won - in November 2021 and the HSBC Women's World Championship in March 2022.
Despite the multiple-month break, Ko picked up right where she left off, marking her sixth win in her past ten starts and back-to-back victories in her past two. The final-round 66 also marked Ko's 30th consecutive round under par, another TOUR record, according to LPGA.com.
Ko ultimately claimed the trophy at the HSBC Women's World Championship by 2 strokes over Minjee Lee and In Gee Chun with a final score of 271 at 17-under.
Atthaya Thitikul and Jeongeun Lee finished tied for fourth at 14-under to round out the top five.
