Nelly Korda isn't off to the best start at the U.S. Women's Open.

The superstar found the water three times on the par-3 12th to record a 10 on just her third hole of the day during Thursday's Round 1.

It's the highest single-hole score of Korda's career on the LPGA, eclipsing her previous high of eight, according to The Athletic's Justin Ray.

Korda anticipated having some trouble on the 12th hole during her media availability on Tuesday.

"From the tee box, you can't see how sloped of a green that is, but then once you get onto that green, you're like, 'Oh my gosh,' you're coming in with a 6-iron," she explained, per NBC Sports' Ryan Lavner. "If you're long, in a sense, you're kind of screwed. If you're short, you're screwed, too."

Things didn't get much better for Korda from there. She struggled to a 10- over 45 through her first nine holes at the punishing Lancaster Country Club, a disastrous run that featured three other bogeys on top of her septuple-bogey.

Korda recorded another three bogeys in her last nine holes but picked up three birdies as well. She finished her round at 10-over 80.

"I just didn't play well today," she said afterward, per Golf Digest. "I didn't hit it good; I found myself in the rough a lot. Making a 10 on a par-3 will definitely not do you any good at a U.S. Open. ... Overall, just a bad day at the office."

"I just didn't really want to shoot 80, and I just kept making bogeys," she added with a laugh. "My last few rounds in the U.S. Women's Open have not been good. ... I'm human, I'm gonna have bad days. I've played some really solid golf up to this point."

Korda similarly fired an 80 to end last year's U.S. Women's Open at Pebble Beach.

The 25-year-old now faces an uphill battle to claim her seventh victory in her last eight starts. She won the first major of the season at the Chevron Championship in April.
