Astros manager A.J. Hinch would like Gattis to be ready to catch soon so the team has more lineup flexibility, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Analysis:

"One of the things I've never understood is people thinking this is abnormal to have him catch," Hinch said of Gattis, who he worked with prior to Wednesday's game. "He's a catcher. We just didn't catch him last season based on the fact we wanted to keep him healthy for 500, 600 plate appearances that he hadn't had while he was catching, and we had the liberty of having the DH. He's equipped to handle the position, but he hasn't done it in a year in a single game." If Gattis logs enough appearances behind the plate to gain eligibility at the position in fantasy, his rotisserie value will increase. Keep in mind that he's still working his way back from sports hernia surgery in February, so Hinch's definition of "soon" could be a week, two weeks or even longer depending on Gattis' health.
