Cy Young winners shelled in matinee starts
It wasn't a pleasant afternoon for aces David Price and Max Scherzer.
Both Cy Young winners surprisingly struggled mightily in their respective starts Thursday.
Let's take a closer look at their outings:
David Price, Boston Red Sox
Price was shelled for eight runs by his former club - the Tampa Bay Rays - which is tied for the most in a start in his career. He gave up a pair of homers, including a mammoth blast to his former roommate, Evan Longoria. Price, after dominating at Fenway Park all of his career, is suddenly struggling at the homer-happy venue.

Max Scherzer, Washington Nationals
Scherzer must have been salivating at the thought of taking the hill against the Miami Marlins in a matinee, but he struggled with his command, and couldn't wield his swing-and-miss stuff. In fact, the righty recorded only seven swings and misses, matching his fewest in a game in the past five seasons.
"When I reflected on the outing and I looked at the video I realized I'm just not finishing my pitches," the 2013 AL CY Young winner said postgame. "I'm just not getting through the ball and it's just not me."
