Analysis:
The A's selected utility journeyman Matt McBride's contract from Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday to add some depth behind the plate and give Phegley some time to rest his wrist ailment. Phegley could see some intermittent days off in the near future until his wrist issues clear up, which would make McBride the emergency catcher behind regular starter Stephen Vogt. That said, there has been no mention of a possible DL stint for Phegley to this point, so he should be considered day-to-day for the time being.
