It's never over 'til it's over.
The Wylie Lady Pirates, a Texas softball team in the District 10-5A league, unfortunately learned that the hard way after celebrating their title "win" a little too early.
The McKinney North Lady Bulldogs were down to their last out of the game, trailing 6-4 with the bases loaded. A routine grounder to Wylie's shortstop should've ended the game. However, none of the Wylie players realized the second-base umpire had called the baserunner safe.
Once they realized the game wasn't actually over, Wylie players did try to get back into position, but by then it was far too late: McKinney North continued to round the bases, scoring three runs to win the district title on a wild walk-off.
That one will sting for a while.
