NY paper puts Cashman on sinking Yankees ship
Bronx panic is setting in, and it's taking the city by storm.
With the Yankees off to their worst start since 1991, and on the heels of Brian Cashman's critical comments about his club Monday, the New York Post placed the club's longtime general manager on a ship sinking into the depths of the Hudson River.
Earlier in the day, Cashman threatened changes could be on their way after conceding April was a "horrific month," and that his team needs to "stop the bleeding now."
The 8-15 Yankees were spared further wrath Monday with a scheduled day off - a welcomed reprieve for a team swept by Boston over the weekend and stuck in a five-game losing skid.
"We'll continue to do the work necessary put ourselves in position to succeed, and eventually that worm will turn," he told Post's Ken Davidoff. "In the event things don't turn, I'm going to have to make it turn and be forced to do things that weren't part of the game plan, whatever that would be."
