Report: Lincecum could sign before next week
After Tim Linceum got through his highly anticipated showcase Friday in Scottsdale, Ariz., where the former two-time Cy Young award winner threw 41 pitches in front of representatives from more than 20 teams, nobody was more impressed than Tim Lincecum.
"To be honest, I feel like I could pitch for a good five or six more years until I can't anymore at this point," the 31-year-old told MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez. "I'm nowhere near that point."
Lincecum - who underwent hip surgery in September and hasn't appeared in an MLB game in about 11 months - hopes the 50 or so scouts in attendance Friday feel the same way. And they just might.
According to Jon Morosi of FOX Sports, Lincecum could sign before the end of the weekend, and potentially be on an MLB roster before June 1.

Reportedly keen to remain a starter, the veteran right-hander sat at around 90 mph with his fastball in his showcase, topping out at 92, and scouts were said to be pleased with his changeup and curveball.
"I'm happy. I was able to throw strikes on my pitches, stay within myself. I commanded all of my pitches," Lincecum said. "I only had a couple misses, and they weren't (over the) middle of the plate, so that's encouraging for me."
When asked if he prefers to sign with the San Francisco Giants - the only team Lincecum has played for in his nine-year career - the three-time World Series champion was diplomatic.
"I prefer whichever team needs me," he said. "Wherever, I've got to keep my doors open."
