The Arizona Diamondbacks added another piece to their revamped front office Tuesday, naming Willie Bloomquist as special assistant to CEO Derrick Hall.
Arizona released a statement, according to multiple reports, making the hire official.
Bloomquist is expected to work on both the baseball and business sides of the organization.
The 14-year veteran retired as a player in March, spending three of those seasons with the D-Backs. Over his career, he batted .269/.316/.342.
Although he didn't win any major individual accolades, the longevity of his career is largely attributed to his versatility as a utility man.
