Washington Nationals right-hander Max Scherzer pitched his way into the record books Wednesday with one of the most dominant performances in baseball history.
Scherzer, who last year threw a pair of no-hitters - one of which included a then-career-high 17 strikeouts - added to his impressive resume against his former club by becoming just the fourth pitcher ever to strikeout 20 batters.

The Nationals ace generated 33 swings and misses - the second-most in a single game over the last 15 years - and nearly record more strikeouts than balls (23) during the 119-pitch effort.
