Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson didn't even get to take the field Saturday against the Minnesota Twins, getting ejected after grounding out in the top of the first inning at Target Field following an exchange with home-plate umpire Toby Basner.

As he headed back to the dugout after grounding out to shortstop against left-hander Pat Dean with one out in the first, the reigning American League MVP turned towards home plate and said something unintelligible in the direction of the 31-year-old umpire, leading to his ejection.

After being tossed, Donaldson could be heard protesting his innocence on the Sportsnet broadcast, insisting he wasn't talking to Basner.

"I'm not looking at you," Donaldson said.

Donaldson, who crushed his 10th homer of the season Friday, was replaced at third base by Darwin Barney, with Ryan Goins coming off the bench to take over for Barney at second.
