Baseball world split over Syndergaard's quick ejection
Noah Syndergaard was given the quick hook by home plate umpire Adam Hamari on Saturday after the New York Mets starter threw behind Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Chase Utley in the third inning.
The 99-mph fastball appeared to be in retaliation for Utley's leg-breaking slide to former Mets infielder Ruben Tejada in the NLDS last season, though the starter's sudden ejection angered some who felt Syndergaard should've first received a warning:
Another umpire who thinks the pregame ceremonies were for him. Adam Hamari has no business in a ballpark without a ticket #DeleteYourCareer

The ball gets away from @Noahsyndergaard, he is asked to leave. @lverrett4 will enter with one out in the 3rd. #Mets pic.twitter.com/SFmeM3hv5M

The people who are for the Charmin 2016 nonsense where were all soft and cuddly, need to remember this is sport, competition, and it's ok.

Unless the umps issued warnings to the benches before the game started, ejecting Syndergaard was a little rash and short-sighted. Come on.

Not everyone felt Syndergaard deserved a second chance, though, given the pitch looked to be thrown behind Utley with full intent:
Thor throws behind Utley and gets tossed. As it should in this situation #StupidUnwrittenRules

Not everything is an "ump show." You can't throw behind a player or curse out umps with impunity. Syndergaard absolutely deserved ejection.

all this umpire bashing is silly. ump ejected a pitcher who everyone in the park knew threw purposely at opposing player.

The Citi Field home crowd made their stance very well known, blaming Utley for the mess that also saw Mets skipper Terry Collins ejected for arguing the decision:
