Ortiz's 500th double with Red Sox ends Dickey's no-hit bid
David Ortiz reached another career milestone Friday while managing to break up a no-hitter from Toronto Blue Jays right-hander R.A. Dickey.
"Big Papi" hit the 500th double of his Boston Red Sox career in the sixth inning when he laced a liner down the right field line at Fenway Park.
David Ortiz now has 500 doubles with the Red Sox, 3rd-most in franchise history behind Carl Yastrzemski (646) and Ted Williams (525).

The double extended Ortiz's hitting streak to 11 games and moved him into third place among Red Sox hitters in doubles behind Carl Yastrzemski (646) and Ted Williams (525).
Ortiz, who hit his first double with the Red Sox in 2003, ticked off another check mark on his bucket list as his career winds down, which includes hitting 500 home runs, nine All-Star appearances, and six Silver Slugger awards.
