Lenny Dykstra's son, Cutter, was released by the Washington Nationals on Tuesday.
Dykstra never made it to the majors, hitting .266/.357/.365 with 40 home runs in his minor-league career.
The 26-year-old spent most of his career in Single-A, but had a stint in Triple-A last season. He struggled, batting .185/.323/.210 with one homer and 50 strikeouts in 53 games.
The Milwaukee Brewers' second-round draft pick in 2008 was traded to the Nationals in 2011 for former major leaguer Nyjer Morgan.
