Rays' Chris Archer: Racks up loss No. 10
Archer fell to 4-10 after allowing four runs on six hits and a pair of walks in six innings Wednesday against Cleveland. He struck out five.
Analysis:
The first inning did him in, as Archer gave up a two-run homer to Jason Kipnis and then an RBI single to Jose Ramirez before settling down and limiting the Indians to one run over his remaining five frames. Unfortunately, there seems to always be something with Archer -- it's been more than seven weeks, dating back to May 6, since he had a scoreless outing. Worse, he's given up four or more runs in six of his last nine outings. The strikeouts are still typically there, but the walks remain an issue and the long balls an even bigger one -- he's averaging a homer per start over his first 16 outings, and a date with the Red Sox next week doesn't promise to help in that regard.
