Reds' Cody Reed: Hammered in third MLB start
Reed (0-2) was crushed for seven runs on nine hits while striking out five in four innings against the Cubs on Wednesday.
Analysis:
The third big league start of Reed's career was easily his worst as he allowed three homers on the day. Ranked as the No. 3 prospect in the organization, the 23-year-old had never allowed more than six earned runs in four minor league seasons. He now sits with an unsightly 9.00 ERA and 1.81 WHIP through 16 innings as a big leaguer. Those owners who were eager to scoop up the lefty and deploy him immediately may want to take a more cautious approach moving forward.
