Gose sent home after dugout spat with Triple-A manager

Anthony Gose's disastrous stint in Triple-A took another negative turn Saturday when the former top prospect was sent home following a heated dugout confrontation with manager Lloyd McClendon during the first game of a doubleheader, according to Lynn Henning of the Detroit News.

Gose, who was optioned to Toledo in May after hitting just .209/.287/.341 in 30 games with the Detroit Tigers, was pulled from the game after blowing up at McClendon in the third inning, and his personal items were not in his locker following the doubleheader.

Though McClendon wouldn't address the spat afterward, Tigers manager Brad Ausmus didn't sound overly worried about the incident.

"Any time a player reacts that way to a manager is concerning," Ausmus said, according to ESPN's Katie Strang, "but it’s certainly not anything that can’t be handled or gotten past."

Acquired by Detroit ahead of the 2015 campaign in exchange for Devon Travis, Gose has managed a .678 OPS in 170 games with the Tigers, and is hitting just .185./255/.266 since being demoted to Toledo two months ago.

"I think you have to understand the human side, the human element involved, the emotions involved, and those struggles play into his emotions obviously," Ausmus added.
