It's a balk-off! It's a balk-off!

One of the strangest ways for a team to win, or lose, a game occurred Saturday when a stumbling Santiago Casilla cost the San Francisco Giants the game in extra innings against the San Diego Padres in 7-6 loss.

While pitching to Alexei Ramirez, and with Derek Norris standing on third, Casilla caught a spike mid-delivery to balk in the game's winning run.

"I think I did everything correct with my mechanics. Unfortunately, my foot got caught on the mound. I don't know why," Casilla told reporters.

"It wasn't normal. It seemed there was a hole from previous pitchers. Losing a game, it doesn't matter how, it's always frustrating."

The unfortunate loss was the second in a row by the NL West-leading Giants against the lowly Padres.
