Simmons recovers after nearly bungling basket catch

Andrelton Simmons is such a good defender, he can botch a Willie Mays impression and still make the out.
At least, that's what happened Wednesday night in Anaheim, where the two-time Gold Glove award winner bungled his attempt at a basket catch on a Robinson Chirinos popup just in front of the pitcher's mound, but managed to recover and make the out with a diving second effort.
Simmons, by the way, came into Wednesday's clash with the Texas Rangers tied for third among MLB shortstops in defensive runs saved (11) despite spending five weeks on the disabled list earlier this season following thumb surgery.
