Giants' Madison Bumgarner: Overcomes early struggles to earn quality start Friday
Bumgarner held the Yankees to two runs over seven innings while walking three and striking out six Friday. He did not factor into the eventual 3-2 loss.
Analysis:
Most fantasy owners would be pleased with the final line score Bumgarner provided Friday, but it did not come easy for the dominant lefty. He allowed seven baserunners over the first two innings and saw his pitch count elevate to a level that pointed towards a short outing. Bumgarner - as he usually does - bounced back in the face of adversity and shut the Yankees down over the next five innings, keeping his offense within striking distance. Things get easier for him next time out when the Giants take on the Reds next Wednesday.
