Watch: Clemens throws bat toward Piazza in World Series

As Mike Piazza awaits his induction into baseball immortality, we can't help but look back on the good - and bad - from his 16-year Hall of Fame career.

Among the more unforgettable moments of his major-league run happened in the 2000 World Series, when the former New York Mets slugger was jammed by a Roger Clemens offering during the first inning of Game 2 and his bat splintered in half in the direction of the Yankees right-hander.

Clemens, who was accused of throwing at Piazza earlier in the season, inexplicably hurled the broken bat back toward the Mets catcher in a surreal moment that caused both benches to clear.

Cooler heads would prevail and then-Yankees manager Joe Torre insisted Clemens was telling the truth when he said the bat throw wasn't intentional. Piazza would eventually get the last laugh, as he prepares for Sunday's Cooperstown speech, while Clemens remains shut out by voters after his alleged PED use.
