Donaldson goes full Kelly Gruber on tag out
MLB.com
Josh Donaldson plays third base like a certain Toronto Blue Jays World Series champion.
Against the San Diego Padres on Monday, Donaldson received the ball as Travis Jankowski was caught in a rundown.
Instead of throwing the ball to second, Donaldson chased down and dove for the out, showing shades of Kelly Gruber's play in the 1992 World Series.
The only difference is Gruber, despite clearly applying the tag, didn't get the call, though he would've in 2016 with video review.
