Indians prospect makes MiLB history with 46-game hit streak
Cleveland Indians prospect catcher Francisco Mejia has etched himself into the minor-league record books.
The 20-year-old smacked a leadoff, ninth-inning double Thursday for Single-A Lynchburg to record a hit in his 46th consecutive game, thus setting the longest minor-league baseball hit streak of the modern era.

Only seven hitting streaks in all of professional baseball remain longer than Mejia's, with Joe Wilholt's 69-game streak set in 1919 standing alone atop the all-time list.
Mejia, the Indians' No. 4-ranked prospect according to MLBPipeline.com, was one of the names reportedly headed to the Milwaukee Brewers in a trade for Jonathan Lucroy, before the All-Star catcher exercised a limited no-trade clause to nix the deal.
