Mets' Bartolo Colon: Fans eight over seven strong frames
Colon threw seven solid innings Wednesday, allowing just one run on seven hits and a walk while fanning eight Diamondbacks hitters and earning a no-decision.
Analysis:
Despite the strong effort, Colon was in line for the loss until the ninth inning when Kelly Johnson hit a pinch-hit, game-tying home run. Colon has been either very good or very bad of late, allowing five or more runs three times in his past seven starts, but allowing one or no earned runs in the other four. But on the whole, Colon has been a solid performer for the Mets, posting a 3.35 ERA over 23 starts. Colon should get a pair of road starts next week, first in Arizona and then in San Fransisco.
