Cleveland Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco made his first start as a citizen of the United States on Sunday, after the native of Venezuela passed his test last week.

To celebrate, Carrasco flew home from the team's road trip looking patriotic.

Carrasco told Cleveland.com's Paul Hoynes that he prepared for his test with a little help from his wife, Karelis, and his Cleveland teammates.

"Who was the president during World War I was the toughest question for me," he said of the two-hour long test. "It was Woodrow Wilson, but I took my time and refreshed my mind (and got it right)." After passing, Carrasco took the Oath of Allegiance to the U.S. with 51 other new citizens.

Carrasco started the process of becoming a citizen three years ago. The dual citizen has been living in America since 2007.
