Cubs fire employee responsible for Chapman song gaffe
The Chicago Cubs acted swiftly, and firmly.
A day after a club employee played an inappropriate song while Aroldis Chapman walked off the mound, the Cubs released a statement, saying the person in question has been terminated.
We apologize for the irresponsible music selection during our game last night. The selection of this track showed a lack of judgement and sensitivity to an important issue. We have terminated our relationship with the employee responsible for making the selection and will be implementing stronger controls to review and approve music before public broadcast during our games.
When the left-hander registered the final out in the ninth, the DJ played "Smack My B---h Up" on the speakers.
Chapman served a 30-game suspension to start the season after he was involved in a domestic-violence incident with his girlfriend back in October.
