Mets' Bartolo Colon: Takes loss to Diamondbacks
Colon (10-7) allowed five runs (but just two earned) on nine hits and two walks with one strikeout over four innings against Arizona.
Analysis:
Colon wasn't helped by his defense, but he also wasn't fooling Diamondbacks hitters. He managed just two swinging strikes on 81 pitches and was tagged for four extra-bases, including a Paul Goldschmidt triple. The Diamondbacks are the only one of the 30 major league teams that Colon has yet to beat in his career, and he'll have to wait to nab that elusive win. On the bright side, Colon hasn't allowed more than two earned runs in any of his three August starts and hasn't allowed a home run in 17.2 innings.
