Werth ties franchise record with 46-game on-base streak

This Washington Nationals outfielder is proving his Werth.
Jayson Werth, 37, extended his on-base streak to 46 games Thursday night to tie a franchise record, hitting an RBI double in the fifth inning against the Atlanta Braves.
Werth needs to reach base one more time to beat the record set by Montreal Expos star Rusty Staub in 1969.
During the streak, which began June 20, Werth has hit .257/.379/.453 (not including Thursday's game), though perhaps more impressive are his walk totals, as he's been extremely patient at the plate in drawing 32 base on balls with a 124 wRC+.
Ted Williams holds the major-league record for consecutive games reaching base with 84, set in 1949.
