The Milwaukee Brewers traded outfielder Eric Young Jr. to the New York Yankees in exchange for cash Wednesday, the club announced.
Young could provide the Yankees with another speed threat when rosters expand in September, given that the 31-year-old has stolen 144 bases during his career - including a league-leading 46 in 2013 when he was a member of the Colorado Rockies and New York Mets.
The veteran has spent his entire 2016 campaign in the minors, hitting .263/.338/.339 with three home runs, 30 RBIs, and 23 stolen bases for Triple-A Colorado Springs.
Over the course of seven big-league seasons, he owns a career .247/.314/.328 slash line in 557 games.
