Fernandez recently shared photo of pregnant girlfriend
Jose Fernandez's tragic death continues to become even more heartbreaking with each passing moment.
Shortly after it was revealed the 24-year-old Marlins pitcher had been killed in a boating accident Sunday, mourners began sharing a photo from his Instagram account posted just a few days ago that appeared to announce his girlfriend was pregnant.
"I'm so glad you came into my life," Fernandez wrote on his @jofez16 account. "I'm ready for where this journey is gonna take us together. #familyfirst"
In a statement released by the Marlins, the team said it was "devastated" by the loss of Fernandez, who was among three people killed in a boating accident off the coast of Miami Beach early Sunday morning. The U.S. Coast Guard said the accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. ET when authorities say a 32-foot vessel had a "severe impact" with a jetty, according to The Associated Press.
