The sudden death of Jose Fernandez sent shock waves through the baseball world Sunday morning, with players, executives, and fans mourning the loss of the 24-year-old Miami Marlins pitcher. But no one could have felt the loss more than his family.
Fernandez was incredibly close with his loved ones, including his grandmother, whom he once said was "the most important person in his life."
In November of 2013, Fernandez received a surprise visit from his grandmother, seeing her for the first time since he left Cuba as a 15-year-old.
