Marlins Park was empty on Sunday.
Early in the morning, news broke that 24-year-old superstar Jose Fernandez died in a boating accident off the coast of Miami Beach.

The Miami Marlins canceled their game against the Atlanta Braves, but hundreds of fans flocked to the stadium anyway to pay tribute to the youngster.
Fans created a memorial to honor Fernandez at a time when no one was thinking about baseball.
"I didn't believe it. I've seen these hoaxes before," a season-ticket holder told Andre Fernandez and Manny Navarro of the Miami Herald. "Unfortunately this was not a hoax. It got confirmed shortly after I got here and it's just unbelievable - just unbelievable."
Fernandez was a franchise player, one of the best pitchers in the game, and among the faces of baseball.
