Watch: Streaking fan invades Rogers Centre field in 9th inning
There's never a good time to run onto a baseball field. Ever.
But doing so as one of your club's franchise players is mentally preparing for possibly his last at-bat with the team - on his 36th birthday, no less - is downright awful.
As Jose Bautista stepped into the batter's box leading off the ninth inning for the Toronto Blue Jays, trying to come back from a 3-0 deficit to prolong their season, one unintelligent fan decided it was the opportune time to have nearly 50,000 sets of eyes shift their attention to him instead:
The nauseating decision nearly overshadowed Bautista's at-bat, before the outfielder ripped a double down the left-field line. Toronto failed to move him any farther than second, however, and Cleveland advanced to its first World Series since 1997.
Bautista's current Blue Jays contract expires this offseason, and the slugger is expected to entertain plenty of interest in his first free-agency venture.
