Report: Red Sox may not hire new GM

The Boston Red Sox are apparently in no rush to hire a new general manager.

Contrasting a recent report that team president Dave Dombrowski was going to start the search for a new GM, he remained tight lipped regarding any new developments on that front.

"Still working on some final decisions," Dombrowski told Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe.

There has been no indication Dombrowski is going to take over the position himself - he was GM of the Detroit Tigers for 14 years before becoming president of the Red Sox - and if they do hire someone new, it's expected the team will look internally to replace the recently departed Mike Hazen, who left to become the general manager of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

In addition to Hazen, the Red Sox could lose vice president of amateur scouting Amiel Sawdaye, and bench coach Tory Lovullo, who are both heavily on the Diamondbacks' radar.
