Report: Orioles to consider multi-year deal for Trumbo
The Baltimore Orioles don't plan on letting 2016's home-run leader get away without a fight.
Mark Trumbo is fully expected to reject his $17.2-million qualifying offer from the Orioles, but the club's planned a meeting with the free-agent outfielder and will consider a multi-year deal, reports FanRag's Jon Heyman.
"We’re going to see if we can bring him back," general manager Dan Duquette said.
After splitting a below-average season with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Seattle Mariners in 2015, Trumbo injected life into his career after exploding for a league-leading 47 home runs with the Orioles this past year.
He received his first All-Star nod since 2012, and the 30-year-old set career highs for homers, RBIs, hits, runs scored, slugging, and OPS.
