Players Choice Awards: Late Fernandez wins NL Comeback Player of the Year
Former Miami Marlins right-hander Jose Fernandez has taken home the 2016 National League Comeback Player of the Year Award, as voted on by his peers in Major League Baseball.
Elsewhere around the awards, it was Jose Altuve's night, as he won every award that he was a finalist, highlighted by the overall Player of the Year, beating out Boston Red Sox teammates David Ortiz and Mookie Betts.
The Houston Astros' second baseman was also awarded the American League Most Outstanding Player Award, as well as the Majestic Athletic Always Game Award, given to a player who consistently exhibits tenacity and hustle.
