Encarnacion's agent still talking with 5-6 teams
The market for free-agent slugger Edwin Encarnacion remains robust, according to his agent, Paul Kinzer, who said there's been continuous talk with 5-6 teams.
"Pretty quiet this week," Kinzer told Rick Westhead of TSN. "Waiting for things to fall into place."
Kinzer stated last week there was a shortlist of five teams that Encarnacion would feel comfortable signing with, including three from the American League.
The Toronto Blue Jays made Encarnacion an offer earlier this month, though his camp declined it. Despite the club signing designated hitter Kendrys Morales to a three-year, $33-million deal at the start of free agency, Kinzer said there's been talks with Toronto's front office.
In addition to the Blue Jays, the Texas Rangers, Houston Astros, and Boston Red Sox are rumored to have some level of interest in Encarnacion, though the Red Sox reportedly haven't had serious conversations with Kinzer.
