Ortiz teases Red Sox return following Sale trade
The Boston Red Sox are all-in to win, and they've caught the attention of David Ortiz.
Big Papi took to Instagram to welcome Chris Sale - who was acquired by the Red Sox in a blockbuster trade Tuesday - and in the caption, said the move has him thinking of a return to Beantown.
Since his farewell tour this past season, the 41-year-old Ortiz has been adamant regarding his retirement status, insisting he won't be making a comeback - but stranger things have happened. Despite signing Mitch Moreland to a one-year contract, Boston still lacks a designated hitter, and Ortiz is technically a free agent.
It remains to be seen whether or not Big Papi is being serious, but one thing is certain: Sale makes the Red Sox immensely better, and the deal has certainly piqued Ortiz's interest. What a story that would be.
