Report: Braves, Royals expressed interest in Plouffe
Another two clubs have entered the race for Trevor Plouffe's signature.
The Atlanta Braves and Kansas City Royals are the latest in a line of teams that have reportedly expressed interest in the free-agent third baseman, according to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.
Cafardo notes the Royals could turn to Plouffe in case they decide to trade current third baseman Mike Moustakas.
Along with the Braves and Royals, the Boston Red Sox are also interested in Plouffe as possible insurance at third for the returning Pablo Sandoval. The Oakland Athletics - another team reportedly in the mix for Plouffe - could also be considering the 30-year-old as a backup to Ryon Healy at the hot corner.
Plouffe had spent his entire seven-year career with the Minnesota Twins before being released by the organization in November. He owns a career .247/.308/.420 slash line with 96 home runs in 723 games.
