Ortiz not interested in playing at WBC

If David Ortiz intends on making a comeback, it'll happen after the World Baseball Classic.

The slugger, who announced his retirement last season following an illustrious 20-year career, has "not expressed interest" in playing for the Dominican Republic at the WBC, team general manager Moises Alou told Jon Morosi of FOX Sports.

Earlier Tuesday, Ortiz raised eyebrows by tweeting at the Boston Globe for no apparent reason.

With that in mind, rumors of Ortiz's potential comeback haven't ever really died down since his retirement, especially considering the Boston Red Sox are expected to contend for a World Series title in 2017.

In his final major-league campaign, Ortiz put up legendary numbers, especially given he was 40 years old.

He slashed a ridiculous .315/.401/.620 with a 1.021 OPS, while belting 38 home runs, driving in 127 runs and hammering a career-high 38 doubles over 151 games.
