The memorial for 25-year-old starter Yordano Ventura will be held Tuesday in his hometown of Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic, according to Sam Mellinger of the Kansas City Star.
Kansas City Royals general manager Dayton Moore, manager Ned Yost, and several players will be in attendance.
Ventura was killed early Sunday morning in a car accident on a highway near Rancho Arriba, a town in the Dominican Republic. Details of the crash have not been released.
Several fans and teammates attended a vigil in Ventura's honor at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City on Sunday. Danny Duffy and Christian Colon were present as the two Royals players embraced fans who paid tribute to the young starter.
